Sirius Satellite Radio

Sirius Satellite Radio (formerly CD Radio) is a digital satellite radio broadcaster and one of only two organizations of its kind licensed by the United States Federal Communications Commission. Almost a decade ago Sirius Satellite Radio conceived a satellite-to-vehicle radio broadcasting system that would leverage advanced digital technology to provide broad channel selection, excellent sound quality and seamless national coverage to a vast market encompassing hundreds of millions of American motorists.

The Systems Group provided the systems design and integration for Sirius Satellite Radio’s new National Broadcast Studios (NBS) located on the Avenue of the Americas in New York City. The NBS houses all acquisition, production, programming, transmission, and customer service operations for SSR’s one-hundred channels.  Some unique features of this facility include: Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Master Control; Multipurpose Performance Spaces; and an extensive Music Library.

The design and engineering, fabrication, and integration phases for the project were successfully completed in late 2001 and TSG was proud to observe the launch of commercial operation of Sirius Satellite Radio later in the following year.
